A useful cost comparison
Ten Zoom Pro licenses total about $1,699 a year at the $14.16 annual-plan rate; confirm the exact amount at checkout. Ten Teams Essentials licenses total $480. The difference is material if both products satisfy the same meeting requirements.
Do not automatically license every employee as a paid meeting organizer. Identify who needs to schedule meetings with paid capabilities and how the vendor licenses that use. Attending a customer’s meeting is a different requirement from hosting it.
What could justify paying more?
An established Zoom process may avoid retraining, changes to booking tools or problems with a particular room system. Those are reasons to test, not blanket claims of superior quality. Run a meeting with an outside participant, screen sharing, the required recording process and the room hardware you intend to keep.
Teams Essentials is attractive when it meets those same requirements at the lower base price. If your Microsoft 365 subscription already contains Teams, first confirm whether buying Essentials would duplicate an existing entitlement.
Do not confuse meetings with webinars or phone systems
A large attendee count is not proof that a plan supplies registration, webinar controls, a contact center or a public telephone number. Those requirements can change the edition and cost. Likewise, a video bar or room controller does not necessarily include the room-service license needed to use it.
Choose the lowest complete configuration that passes the actual meeting test. A platform change has little value if employees immediately add another paid product to restore a missing workflow.

- Does our Microsoft 365 plan already include Teams?
Frequently asked questions
Does Teams Essentials include Outlook email?

Does Zoom Pro allow meetings longer than 40 minutes?
Yes. Zoom Workplace Pro allows meetings up to 30 hours. The 40-minute limit applies to Zoom’s free Basic plan and the Basic meetings bundled with some Zoom Phone plans.
