Docusign Business Pro vs Adobe Sign: Price and Send Limits

Docusign Business Pro costs $45 per user per month on an annual plan ($540 a year) and includes 100 envelopes per user per year. Adobe Acrobat Sign Solutions is sold by custom quote based on users, transactions and integrations. Count your annual sends first: the envelope allowance often matters more than the seat price.

At a glance

  • Docusign Standard: $30/user/month annual, 100 envelopes/user/year.
  • Docusign Business Pro: $45/user/month annual; adds payments and web forms.
  • Twenty separate sends a month is about 240 a year, over the 100-envelope allowance.

Buying difference Docusign Business Pro Adobe Acrobat Sign Solutions

Annual reference cost $540 per user, before tax Depends on the contracted package and usage
Sending allowance Standard self-service annual terms specify 100 envelopes/user/year Transaction entitlement is established in the contract
What usage means An envelope can contain multiple documents; sending creates usage Sent transactions consume the contracted entitlement under Adobe's rules
Higher-volume sending Bulk send is available; individual sends still count toward allowance Business workflows available; quote the required volume and sending method
Integration approach Confirm the exact connector and whether the selected plan includes it Integrations include Microsoft and business systems such as Salesforce and Workday; entitlement matters
Identity checks Advanced verification must be priced for the required workflow Phone, government-ID, and other authentication services can be separate charges
PDF editing Do not treat Business Pro as a full PDF-editor replacement Acrobat Sign Solutions is distinct from an Acrobat Pro PDF subscription
Main limitation / extra cost $540/year per user does not buy unlimited sending or every identity-verification option No public matched rate; specify transaction volume, verification and integrations in the contract
Best fit (Sigma assessment) 100 annual envelopes per user and the Business Pro workflow fit You need a negotiated integration and transaction package

The envelope limit can matter more than the seat price

One user sending twenty separate agreements each month would send about 240 envelopes over a year. That exceeds the standard 100-envelope annual reference allowance. Multiple signatures within one envelope do not necessarily create multiple envelopes, but separate sends do.

Bulk sending does not make the resulting agreements free of usage limits. Price the annual number of sends, expected growth, and additional allowance before comparing per-user fees. Include failed, corrected, or resent workflows in the vendor discussion because the counting rules determine consumption.

For Adobe, obtain the same figures in the order: users or sender access, transaction entitlement, additional-transaction price, and any integration or identity-verification charges. The lower Acrobat Pro subscription shown elsewhere on Adobe's website is not a substitute quote for an enterprise Sign Solutions deployment.

Test the agreement from start to finish

Send a realistic document through the approval order the business uses. Check the signer's mobile experience, reminders, storage of completed agreements, export of the audit information, and the return of data to the business application. A signature tool that requires staff to retype the same information can lose its apparent price advantage.

Use ordinary test data during evaluation. Where a workflow has legal or regulatory requirements, have the responsible adviser confirm the required signature and identity process; a brand name alone does not establish suitability.

Choose the package whose sending allowance, integration, and administration fit the real agreement workload. Sigma can help compare an annual quote using the same number of senders and transactions.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • How many separate agreements do we send per user each year?
