The hotspot difference can reverse an assumption

The lower-priced plan does not simply have less hotspot data. Visible trades speed for volume: its base hotspot is capped at 5Mbps. My Biz allows a limited amount at high speed, then a much slower connection. Someone who transfers a large file briefly may value the latter’s initial speed; someone who needs long periods of modest tethering may prefer the former’s structure. Actual network conditions still affect both.

Do not infer identical performance from the network name. Plan terms, congestion treatment, device compatibility and local conditions all matter. Test the actual subscription you intend to buy, especially if tethering is part of the job.

What the lower price means for a business

At the listed one-line rates, Visible is $40 a month below My Biz before Verizon’s additional taxes and fees. That difference is real at this basis. It does not prove that a business with ten lines would save $400: Verizon’s account pricing can change with line count, and the account arrangements differ.

For an employee’s personal subscription, decide who owns the number, who pays, and what happens when employment ends. If the company needs to reassign the number or administer a fleet, establish that process before choosing a consumer plan merely because it costs less. Do not assume a personal account provides the business controls in a corporate proposal.

Which should you choose?

Shortlist Visible for a simple single-line requirement when the plan’s terms and account ownership suit the intended use. Shortlist My Biz when the business account, required upgrades and company control justify the complete quoted bill. A plan should earn its premium through an identifiable requirement.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • Who should own the phone number if the employee leaves?
  • Does the business need central billing and line management?
  • How much tethering does the role need, and at what speed?
  • Is a business receipt or invoice required for expense and tax records?

What Hawaiʻi businesses should check

Visible and My Biz share Verizon’s network, so coverage at your Hawaiʻi sites is the same starting point. The difference is who owns the account and the number. If a departing employee’s number is your customers’ contact line, a company-owned business line protects it.

Frequently asked questions

Is cheaper service automatically less reliable?

No. Price alone does not establish reliability. Evaluate the actual plan at the places and times employees need it.

Is unlimited data the same as unlimited speed?

No. Visible’s hotspot speed cap and Verizon’s post-allowance slowdown are clear examples of that distinction.

Can a business use Visible?

An individual can use it, but it is a consumer subscription. A business needing central billing, number ownership and control over employee lines should compare a business account instead.
