At a glance
- Match scopes before comparing price: mail protection and encryption may be separate elsewhere.
- Detection and response (EDR) and managed response are separate scopes.
- Pilot on your own applications before a fleet rollout.

| Difference | ESET PROTECT Complete | Bitdefender GravityZone Business Security Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Price basis | Device/user count, covered workload types and term | Endpoint/server mix, add-ons and term |
| Core emphasis | Broader protection bundle across endpoints and named mail/cloud services | Advanced endpoint threat prevention |
| Advanced file analysis | ESET cloud-sandboxing capability in package | Sandbox Analyzer and HyperDetect |
| Encryption | Full-disk encryption listed in Complete scope | Full Disk Encryption is separately licensed where required |
| Mail/cloud-app protection | Named components included, subject to supported platforms | Do not assume these are supplied by the endpoint Premium license |
| EDR/XDR | Confirm ESET Inspect or required higher entitlement | Confirm the required EDR/XDR license; Premium is not automatically the Enterprise package |
| Management | ESET PROTECT console | GravityZone Control Center |
| Main limitation / extra cost | Do not assume ESET Inspect/EDR or every platform feature is in Complete | Full Disk Encryption and required EDR/XDR entitlements can add cost |
| Best fit (Sigma assessment) | The listed encryption, endpoint and mail/cloud components meet your requirements | You prioritize endpoint prevention and will scope encryption and EDR separately |

A broader bundle can avoid an incomplete quote
If mail protection and encryption are requirements, include them in both proposed configurations. Comparing ESET’s broader package with a standalone endpoint price and calling the latter cheaper would omit part of the purchase.
The reverse is also true. If the company already owns suitable mail and encryption tools, paying for overlapping capabilities may not add value. Identify the tools that remain and the ones the new package will replace.
Prevention, detection and response are different scopes
Endpoint prevention attempts to stop malicious activity. Investigation and response capabilities provide additional workflows, and a managed response service adds people and an operating commitment. Those should not be collapsed into a single “antivirus included” row.
For either vendor, ask for the exact edition and add-on list. If the proposal includes a managed service, specify monitoring hours, actions the provider can take and the escalation process. A software subscription alone does not establish those responsibilities.
Test before deploying across the fleet
Use a representative group with the business’s important applications, operating systems and remote-working patterns. Check installation, updates, policy application, alert handling and performance during real tasks. Document necessary exclusions carefully rather than broadly disabling protection to make an application work.
Choose ESET Complete when its broader included scope matches the gap. Choose GravityZone Premium when its endpoint package, with any needed additions, is the stronger fit. Compare complete term cost only after the scopes match.
Questions to ask before you buy
- Which layers are required: endpoint, mail, cloud apps, encryption, EDR?
- Which tools will the new package replace?
- Is managed detection and response included or separate?
- Which servers and operating systems must be covered?
Frequently asked questions
Does “Premium” mean every Bitdefender feature is included?
No. The vendor’s feature matrix distinguishes products and add-ons. Product adjectives are not a substitute for licensing details.
