| Difference | One Dell U3425WE | Two Dell P2425H monitors |
|---|---|---|
| Price basis | One monitor and required cable/accessories | Two monitors plus any arm, dock or extra cable |
| Screen arrangement | One 34-inch curved ultrawide | Two approximately 24-inch displays |
| Native resolution | 3440 × 1440 | 1920 × 1080 each |
| Combined native pixels | 4,953,600 | 4,147,200 across both |
| Center seam | None | Bezel between screens |
| Independent positioning | One physical panel | Each display can be positioned separately |
| Connections to verify | Required resolution/refresh through the selected host connection | Host/dock must support two independent display outputs |
| Docking distinction | Thunderbolt hub monitor | Separate docking/connection requirements |
| Main limitation / extra cost | One panel cannot be independently repositioned as two screens; price must include required connections | Budget for two units and any dock or arm; the center bezel divides the workspace |
| Best fit (Sigma assessment) | You want one continuous 3440 × 1440 canvas and a Thunderbolt hub | You prefer independently positioned displays for two separate applications |

More width is not the same as more detail
Two Full HD panels provide 3840 horizontal pixels in total, but only 1080 vertically. The ultrawide provides fewer horizontal pixels than that combined figure and more vertical pixels. Its total native pixel count is higher. Neither result alone determines which is easier to read because scaling, viewing distance and application layout also matter.
For a spreadsheet beside an email window, either can work. A wide timeline or drawing may benefit from an uninterrupted panel. A user who keeps two applications in clearly separate work areas may prefer two displays.
Sharing the screen with customers
Test the actual meeting application. Sharing an entire ultrawide desktop can make content small on a participant’s conventional screen; sharing an application window may solve that. Two screens make it possible to share one while keeping notes on the other, provided the user selects the correct display.
Check the laptop before ordering
The dock and laptop must support the intended independent outputs, resolution and refresh rate. A connector that physically fits does not establish that capability. Include the exact host model in the purchase review, particularly when standardizing a desk setup across different computers.
Choose the ultrawide for a continuous workspace and the named hub features. Choose dual screens for independent positioning and a deliberate two-window workflow. Compare complete installed prices after confirming both arrangements work with the laptop.
