Cradlepoint E300 vs Peplink 310 5G vs Inseego FX4100

Choose the Ericsson Cradlepoint E300 for centrally managed branch networking through NetCloud, the Peplink Balance 310 5G for combining connections with SpeedFusion, or the Inseego FX4100 for a compact 5G router with Wi-Fi 7. None guarantees a cellular speed at your address; test signal and capacity where the router will sit.

At a glance

  • Cradlepoint: NetCloud subscription required for management.
  • Peplink: SpeedFusion bonding and care plans carry recurring services.
  • Inseego FX4100: Wi-Fi 7 (2×2) and two 1GbE LAN/WAN ports.

Two SIM slots do not mean two live connections

A SIM identifies a service subscription. A modem provides the cellular connection. Switching between SIMs is different from operating two modems at the same time, and both differ from bonding traffic across links. Price the required capability rather than counting SIM slots.

SpeedFusion bonding also involves its endpoint or service arrangement. Do not assume that purchasing the router includes every cloud service, traffic allowance, and care-plan renewal indefinitely.

Test the backup as a complete system

Measure reception where the router or antenna will be installed. Check the carrier plan's data allowance, traffic policy, supported device, and address restrictions. A strong signal does not establish that the available capacity meets your workload at the busiest hour.

Then interrupt the primary connection during a test call and a business-application session. Observe recovery and whether users must reconnect. Failover capability is not a guarantee that every session survives unchanged.

Include power protection, antennas, cabling, installation, and both internet subscriptions in the proposal. Sigma can help compare these routers against the required branch design and carrier coverage, with the exact hardware revision and recurring services identified.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • What signal strength and speed do we measure at the install location on each carrier?
  • Do we need failover, load balancing or bonded connections?
  • What management subscriptions and care plans recur, and for how long?
  • What data allowance does the cellular plan include?

What Hawaiʻi businesses should check

Carrier coverage varies sharply by island and terrain. Test each carrier’s signal at the exact install spot, and consider an external antenna where buildings or valleys weaken reception.

Frequently asked questions

Can a 5G router replace business internet?

For some small sites, yes, if signal and plan data allowances support the workload. Most businesses use 5G as a backup path to a wired primary connection.
