Ooma Pro vs Vonage Premium: Small Business Phone Plans

Ooma Office Pro costs $24.95 per user per month with no contract and includes call recording. Vonage Business Communications Premium costs $29.99 per line for 1–10 lines and adds 200-person video meetings, but call recording starts at the Advanced tier ($39.99). If recording matters, Ooma Pro is the simpler buy; if large meetings matter, price Vonage.

The feature that changes the price

For an office that records calls, Ooma Pro provides a straightforward starting point. A Vonage Premium quote needs its recording requirement priced explicitly; moving to Advanced or adding an option changes the total. Conversely, Ooma Pro’s 25-person meeting limit may be too small if the phone platform must also host larger meetings.

Salesforce is another dividing line. Ooma lists it in Pro Plus, which costs $29.95 per user per month. If that integration is essential, comparing Pro’s price against a CRM-capable competitor understates the Ooma budget. An edition name belongs beside every feature claim.

Read the contract, not just the offer banner

Vonage’s published contract terms can make an early cancellation charge depend on the remaining contract value. A discounted monthly amount does not necessarily mean a month-to-month obligation. Ask for the complete term total and renewal price on the same proposal page.

For either supplier, identify telephone hardware, extra numbers, international usage and implementation separately. Reusing existing desk phones may reduce equipment cost, but only if the exact devices are supported and provisioned for the new system.

Which is the better choice?

Choose Ooma Pro when included recording and a small-office calling workflow are the deciding requirements. Consider Vonage Premium when its supported endpoints, meeting size or application workflow justify the quoted contract. Compare Ooma Pro Plus instead if Salesforce or call queues are essential.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • Do we need call recording on every user, or only some?
  • How many desk phones will we reuse, and are they supported?
  • Do we host meetings larger than 25 people?
  • What is the contract term and early-cancellation charge?

What Hawaiʻi businesses should check

Both are cloud services; call quality depends on your office internet and network. Confirm that the desk phones you plan to reuse are supported and that local Hawaiʻi numbers can be ported.
